Our Heritage
A FAMILY STORY SINCE 1934
Heschung is, above all, a story of family and craftsmanship. Founded by Eugène Heschung in 1934, the workshop was passed down to his son Robert, and later to his grandson Pierre. Each generation has trained and guided the next, sharing its knowledge and teaching the artisanal techniques that define the signature of our shoes. Drawing strength from their roots and following their instincts, each has contributed to reinventing this craft over time.

1934 – FOUNDING OF THE WORKSHOP
Northern Alsace, partially covered by the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park, is a region where wildlife and flora are carefully preserved, and where the ruins of magnificent castles overlook sandstone outcrops. It is in this inspiring setting that Eugène Heschung, originally a cutter in one of the twelve factories of Dettwiller, began crafting his own shoes in Steinbourg in 1934. With the founding of the workshop came the first boots and work shoes, handcrafted using authentic Norwegian welt or Goodyear welt construction.

1968 – THE SKI YEARS
Between 1950 and 1967, the first leather ski boots were designed for school ski trips and skiers in the Vosges Mountains. The genuine Norwegian welt technique proved perfectly suited to the waterproofing demands of skiing.
From 1968 to 1972, Robert Heschung gathered the best technical advisors and shifted the focus toward manufacturing competition-grade ski boots. This marked a turning point for the brand, which became the official supplier to the French national ski team and celebrated nine medals won by French champions at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics, followed by eight more at the 1972 Sapporo Olympics.
Heschung was also awarded the Export Oscar for its success in major international markets, including Europe, the United States, and Japan.

FROM 1990 TO TODAY
Upon his arrival, Pierre Heschung set out to reinterpret Norwegian and Goodyear welt construction through collections that blend expert craftsmanship, fine materials, and distinctive style. The result: timeless models whose design and construction withstand the test of time with elegance and ease.
Each season, new styles, materials, and colors enrich the collections, all while preserving a lasting and versatile aesthetic.
Today, Salomé, Romain, and Julien are passionately committed to carrying on this family legacy alongside their father Pierre, as they begin writing the next chapters of this unique story.
