Shoe Care Guide
Leather is a natural, living material that improves with time, provided it is properly cared for. Clean, nourish, protect: discover the essential steps to preserve the beauty and longevity of your shoes.
The Care Routine and Its Must-Have Products
1. PREPARE YOUR SHOES
Start by removing the laces, then insert a Heschung shoe tree that matches the shape and size of your model. This helps smooth out creases, maintain the shoe's silhouette, and make the following steps easier.
2. CLEAN
Using an upper brush, gently remove dust and impurities from the entire surface of the shoe.
Suportlo leather may sometimes display a thin whitish film known as "bloom." This natural phenomenon is characteristic of Suportlo and results from fatty substances temporarily surfacing. To eliminate it, simply apply gentle heat (such as from a hairdryer). The warmth will melt the fats, allowing them to reintegrate into the leather, and the bloom will naturally fade.
3. HYDRATE
Once your shoes are clean, and before applying polish, it is important to hydrate the leather with a nourishing lotion. This helps preserve the leather’s suppleness and natural resilience.
4. CARE FOR THE WELT
Apply a neutral grease along the welt using a dedicated applicator brush. Let it sit, then remove any excess product.
5. POLISH
With a soft cloth, apply a shoe polish in the appropriate color, gently massaging the leather in circular motions.
Let it dry, then use a natural-fiber polishing brush that won’t scratch the leather to remove any excess polish.
6. SHINE
Add the final touch using a polishing glove (or a wool or nylon cloth), lightly buffing the leather to reveal its shine.
Store your shoes away from direct light and heat, in a cool, dry, and ventilated space. You may use Heschung dust bags for protection, but leave them slightly open to allow your shoes to breathe.
